Glenwood, IL Annual Easter Egg Hunt Scheduled For April 4th

Easter Bunny will visit decades-old tradition featuring 2,000 eggs

(Business Wire The Village of Glenwood, Illinois must be one of the Easter Bunny’s favorite places. For generations, he has hidden eggs in the Village and this year is no exception. On Saturday, April 4th, the Bunny is dropping 2,000 eggs filled with candy and toys in the Courtyard at Village Hall for the Annual Egg Hunt.

Katie Schranz remembers the Egg Hunts while growing up in Glenwood. “It was always a thrill to meet the Easter Bunny.” Now, Schranz is with Glenwood’s Department of Parks and Recreation, coordinating these traditional Hunts she loved as a child.

“The Courtyard is a safe and comfortable place for kids and their parents. Separate areas will be sectioned off with bright spring and Easter decorations for each age group. We want to be sure the little ones find enough eggs, just like the big kids.” Streamers, ground picks and other decorations in blue, yellow and pink will denote the sections for three age groups. There will be fruit and cheese snacks to fortify the egg hunters and their parents, and apple juice for this thirsty work inside Village Hall.

Of course, the Easter Bunny will be there, as he has been for decades. “Really,” smiles Schranz, “that is always the best part.”

Children ages one to three will hunt from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Ages four to six will search from 10:30 am to 11:00 am. Children ages seven to ten will finish the hunt from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.

Families should arrive about 9:45 am to ensure their children are ready to go promptly at 10:00 am. “We ask that children bring their own baskets or bags to collect the eggs and encourage parents to bring their cameras. It’s really a charming opportunity to have fun with your children, take pictures with the Bunny and celebrate Easter and spring,” says Schranz.

The Village Hall Courtyard is located at One Asselborn Way in Glenwood. The event is free to all participants. For more information, visit www.villageofglenwood.com or call 708-757-2318.
