TRINAMIC Offers High Density Servo Drive Chipset With 3-Phase Gate Driver Coupled With Bosch B6 Power Module
TRINAMIC bridge gate drivers and Bosch B6 power modules represent perfectly balanced packages for industrial BLDC and PMSM drives up to 1.5kW
(Business Wire) TRINAMIC Motion Control introduces a new powerful gate driver perfectly matched with Bosch´s MB0413A B6 power module.
TRINAMIC, a technology innovator specializing in the control of small electric motors, extends its portfolio of 3-phase motor drivers by leveraging Bosch’s innovative and highly integrated B6 power modules.
Bosch B6 bridges match perfectly to the new TRINAMIC BLDC / PMSM gate driver product family, whose first member, the TMC6130, is also being announced today. The TMC6130 and the Bosch MB0413A power module form an ideal solution for motors with up to 1.5 kW of power at 24 V supply voltage, targeting applications where available board space is limited and optimal heat dissipation and low power dissipation is required. TRINAMIC’s TMC6130 also provides diagnostic and protection features.
Dr. Anne Lorenz, Sales Manager at Bosch Power Modules, said, "With our MOSFET modules, compact power stages with high reliability at attractive system costs can be realized, which is in demand beyond just the automotive sector. TRINAMIC was involved early on in the technical evaluation for industrial applications."
"Our R & D team has been evaluating B6 bridges, constructing test assemblies and comparing performance and costs against discrete implementations," explained Michael Randt, founder and CEO of TRINAMIC. "The benefits are impressive and the B6 bridges extend our portfolio of solutions perfectly."
The MB0413A replaces six discrete MOSFET switches and allows for more dense packing in the control unit. With TRINAMIC’s TMC6130-LA, a powerful 3-Phase PWM gate driver, a full high current three-phase power stage can be designed on a board as small as 50mmx50mm.
The power module layout is optimized for low stray inductance, resulting in reduced switching losses and fewer voltage overshoot problems. The through-hole board design allows for an optimized layout with a gate driver on the opposite site of the component, resulting in short gate leads.
Large exposed areas on the bottom of the power bridge allow for a good thermal connection over a single large contact area to a housing or heat-sink available at TRINAMIC.
TRINAMIC will offer the TMC6130 gate driver in combination with Bosch´s Power modules from March 2015.
To enable rapid design-in, thermally optimized reference designs and an open source hardware evaluation board and code samples are available.
